ICANN approved the triple X domain yesterday officially making it easier to find you some good pr0n. The vote went 9 for and 3 against, with 4 abstentions, which is quite the difference from the 2007 when .xxx was turned down. There are fears throughout the professional adult industry that an exclusive domain for porn will only make it easier to filter out the mature content (by political groups and other higher powers not moms). While it may be true that the filtering of an entire domain is quite scary, I don’t think they would get away with it so easily. Now I think it’s a good thing for filtration on the end-user level, if you can just set parental settings to disable all .xxx sites then your kids wont see nude chicks of the highest caliber, which sucks for all those kids who sign up for sites with obscure names to hide it from the parents. the bonus to this whole process is that the .xxx domain is only for the adult entertainment industry and there is an application process to go thru to get the domain, so you can’t just have one that’s not filled with goodies(thusly making any site legit, legit=good for perverts). there are already over 200,000 pre-registered .xxx sites so there will be content almost immediately after launch. I’ve taken a week off of work and ordered sooo much lotion, im ready for it.
